Joe's Shanghai

Soup dumplings are awesome. This is my second time here and i'll be going again next weekend. The first trip (which occurred on my second night here in New York) consisted of my friends and I ordering 6 or 7 dishes (aside from the dumplings) because there were so many things we wanted to try. Joe's has community tables so we sat with two groups of 2 people and one group of 3. In the center of the table is a rotating disk that the food gets placed on so you can simply spin it around instead of picking up and moving the dishes. We filled the entire spinning disc with just our food. The people we sat with thought we were crazy.

This time, I only ordered the pork and crab soup dumplings. The food we ordered the first time was just okay, so this time I was only there for the dumplings. My friend ordered jellyfish (mostly because he's weird) and it wasn't nearly as good as Congee Bowery's (further pushing my belief that I should only order the soup dumplings). I'm sure there are really good dishes at Joe's aside from the soup dumplings (the crab and pork are much tastier than the just pork soup dumplings in my opinion), but until someone tells me or recommends one, I'm sticking with the soup dumplings.

The soup dumplings are awesome and definitely better than Shanghai Cafe. Eating them is a lot of fun too as you have to be careful of the soup inside. I was really bad at first, but now I'm really good at it.
