Artichoke

We were going to Caracas' to have arepas and we walked past artichoke and saw a line out the door and nearly into the street (this is impressive as the sidewalks are huge on 14th street). As we are on a never-ending search for great pizza places (really just an excuse to eat pizza all the time), we decided there and then that we would have to come back for a slice after our dinner.

Despite being somewhat full thanks to the deliciousness we experienced at Caracas', we stopped in to Artichoke and made our best attempt to eat a slice of pizza. Artichoke isn't like the normal pizza joints as it only offers a few selections per night. There was cheese straight up, crab and artichoke pizza and spinach and artichoke pizza. The crab looked interesting but we weren't too excited by it so we went with the cheese and the spinach and artichoke slice.

First of all, their slices of pizza are huge. It's the kind of slice that would leave you full for quite some time and being that we had just come from dinner, we were already at a disadvantage. Second, the slices were really good. Our favorite was the spinach and artichoke pizza which looked and tasted like someone dumped spinach and artichoke dip onto a pizza crust. It was thick and delicious. Ridiculously so. We managed to get through 2/3rds of the s&a slice and half of the cheese. The former was just plain better so we focused our efforts on finishing it but due to it's massive size could not. It was sad to throw away pizza but i was pretty sure someone would come along and help themselves. Also, I knew i would be getting more as Artichoke isn't too far from my apartment.

Worth the wait.
